Abstract

Hypertension in mammals can be treated by administering an effective amount of an aminoalkyl phenyl sulfide having the formula ##STR1## wherein (C.sub.n H.sub.2n)=a linear or branched alkyl chain of 10 carbons or less (n=1-10); PA1 R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5,=H, OH, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, F, Cl, Br, or I; PA1 R.sub.6 R.sub.7 =H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The hypotensive potential of the compounds may be evaluated by oxygenation with dopamine-beta-hydroxylase.
