Abstract

Nondiffusible compounds having a releasable azo dye moiety have the formula: ##STR1## wherein: (a) each Z and Z.sup.1 completes an aromatic carbocyclic or heterocyclic nucleus having at least one ring of 5 to 7 atoms; PA1 (b) G is a metal chelating group; PA1 (c) each CAR is a ballasted carrier moiety; PA1 (d) Me is a polyvalent, hexacoordinate metal ion; and PA1 (e) each n is 0 or 1, with the proviso that at least one n is 1. These compounds are useful as dye-releasers in photographic elements.
