Abstract

A detergent composition has been discovered that imparts improved soil shield properties to synthetic fabrics. The composition comprises: PA1 (a) about 7 to about 15% by weight of a nonionic surfactant formed from C.sub.12-18 fatty alcohols ethoxylated with about 10 to about 14 moles of ethylene oxide and containing a narrow ethylene oxide distribution; PA1 (b) an effective amount up to about 1.0% of a modified cellulose ether; and PA1 (c) the balance, detergency adjunct materials. Plant tower smoke produced during the spray drying operation is reduced when using said composition with ethoxylated alcohols of narrow ethylene oxide distribution.
