Abstract

An aluminum base bearing alloy having outstanding seizure resistance, particularly under high loads, and having good fatigue resistance and wear resistance is provided. The alloy comprises, in addition to aluminum, 5-11 wt. % Si and 1.5-35 wt. % Sn and contains at least 5 nodular Si particles having a diameter of at least 5 .mu.m per 3.56.times.10.sup.-2 (mm).sup.2 of cross-sectional area of the alloy. The bearing alloy may optionally contain at least one additional element selected from Pb, In, Tl, Cd, Bi, Cu, Mg, Cr and Mn. A bearing material is provided by pressure welding the aluminum base bearing alloy to a backing steel sheet.
