Abstract

Surface-active azo compounds corresponding to the following general formula ##STR1## in which ##STR2## R represents C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, R.sup.1 represents the residue diminished by the isocyanate groups of an aliphatic, aromatic or cycloaliphatic diisocyanate PA0 R.sup.2 represents C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 -alkylene, phenylene PA0 W represents --COO.sup.(-), --SO.sub.3.sup.(-) and PA0 K represents Na.sup.(+), K.sup.(+), NH.sub.4.sup.(+), and their use in the emulsion polymerization of one or more olefinically unsaturated monomers.
