Abstract

The new polyethers obtainable by polymerization of an 1,2-epoxyalkane with 8 to 26 carbon atoms, and a tetrahydrofuran in the presence of a hydroxyl compound of the formula EQU H-OR.sup.1 in which R.sup.1 denotes hydrogen, an alkyl radical having 1 to 24 carbon atoms or a hydroxyalkyl radical having 2 to 40 carbon atoms are disclosed together with their use as lubricants.
