Abstract
A process for producing urethanes by reacting aromatic amino compounds with aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic alcohols and carbon monoxide under conditions of elevated temperature and pressure characterized in that the reaction takes place in the presence of PA1 (a) selenium, selenium compounds, sulfur and/or sulfur compounds, PA1 (b) aromatic nitro compounds, PA1 (c) tertiary organic amines and/or alkali metal salts of weak acids, PA1 (d) oxidizing agents of a specified group and, optionally PA1 (e) ammonia and/or aliphatic, araliphatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic amines containing at least one hydrogen atom bound to an amine nitrogen.
