Abstract

An antiperspirant composition for topical application to human skin comprises a moisture-absorbent water-insoluble polymer which is substantially dry to the touch when swollen with water, a surfactant having a melting point of from 30.degree. to 75.degree. C. and an organic solvent in which the polymer is substantially insoluble. The polymer has a water absorption value of at least 2, preferably 5 to 500. Preferred polymers are derived from anionic polyelectrolytes. The antiperspirant composition can be packaged in a dispenser or other container such as a propellant pressurized aerosol device, a finger-operated pump spray device or a roll-ball applicator.
