Abstract

Magnesium complexes of oligomeric phosphonic acid esters of the formula ##STR1## in which Y.sub.1 is hydrogen or --COT.sub.1, R.sub.1, Q.sub.1 and T.sub.1 are alkyl and n.sub.1 is 1 to 16, are particularly suitable, in combination with polyhydroxy compounds, for use as stabilizers in alkaline, peroxide-containing bleach liquors for bleaching fibrous material made of or containing cellulose.
