Abstract

Triaza compounds of the general formula I ##STR1## and their basic addition salts have good selective herbicidal and plant growth regulating properties when applied pre- and postemergence. In the formula, each of A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 is a homocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic radical such as phenyl, naphthyl, indanyl, imidazolyl, pyridinyl, pyrimidinyl, pyrazolyl or triazolyl, each of which is unsubstituted or mono- to trisubstituted, while only one of A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 may be a phenyl, naphthyl or indanyl radical, and each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl and R.sub.2 is hydrogen or a cation.
