Abstract

Vulcanizable polymeric compositions containing natural rubber or copolymers of conjugated dienes and monoolefins, small amounts of a zinc dimethacrylate having a surface area of from about 3.7 to about 5.4 m.sup.2 /g or more, certain fillers or mixtures of fillers and peroxide curing agents are provided. The use of clay as a filler in combination with the zinc dimethacrylate in certain of the polymeric compositions is particularly advantageous as the combination synergistically enhances the strength of the vulcanized compositions.
