Abstract
Hair dyes containing oxidation dye precursors in a cosmetic carrier contain as coupler substances compounds corresponding to formula I ##STR1## in which Z is a sulfur atom, an >SO group or an >SO.sub.2 group or salts thereof. As developer substances, the hair dyes contain the developers normally used in oxidation hair dyes, preferably aromatic and/or heterocyclic diamines or a 2,4,5,6-tetraamino pyrimidine. The new couplers produce color tones in the brown range with good fastness properties and a negligible tendency towards skin staining.
