Abstract
Epoxy resins are prepared by reacting a mixture of (A) a diglycidyl ether of a dihydric aliphatic material, (B) a polyglycidyl ether of a polyhydric phenol having an average of at least about 2.6 glycidyl ether groups per molecule and optionally (C) a diglycidyl ether of a dihydric phenol with a dihydric phenol in the presence of a catalyst. Coating compositions containing the aforementioned epoxy resins have improved chip resistance, chemical resistance or pencil hardness when cured.
