Abstract

A silver halide color photographic material is disclosed which has at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support, said silver halide emulsion layer containing at least one magenta coupler of formula (I) and at least one non-color forming phenolic compound: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is an alkyl or aryl group; R.sub.2 is a monovalent group; R.sub.3 is an alkylene group; Y is a halogen atom, a hydroxy or alkyl group; Z is a group that can be eliminated upon coupling reaction with the oxidized product of a color developing agent; X is a divalent bonding group or an alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; m is an integer of 0 to 4; and n is an integer of 0 to 5.
