Abstract
The present invention provides a process for the preparation of monoesters of dicarboxylic acids by the carbonylation of carboxyphenyl-triarylphosphonium salts. The carboxyphenyl-triarylphosphonium salts are reacted with carbon monoxide and an alcohol in a base reaction medium having a pK.sub.b greater than about 8.
