Abstract
Acid nitrodyestuffs are prepared by treating aminonitrodiphenylaminesulfonic acids with an oxidizing agent in an aqueous medium, the oxidizing agent being hypochlorous acid or its alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salts and the reaction taking place at above pH 4 and at a temperature between 0.degree. and 100.degree. C. The dyestuffs thus obtainable dye even fresh full chrome grained leather in deep shades.
