Abstract
Compounds of the formula ##STR1## and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof wherein R is: --CO--CH.sub.3, --CHOH--CH.sub.3, --CO--CH.sub.2 OH, --CHOH--CH.sub.2 OH, hydrogen, hydroxy, 1 to 3 carbon alkyl, 1 to 3 carbon terminal hydroxyalkyl; or, PA1 a 2 to 7 carbon ester or diester of said --CO--CH.sub.2 OH, --CHOH--CH.sub.2 OH, --CHOH--CH.sub.3 or of said 1 to 3 carbon terminal hydroxyalkyl; or PA1 said --CO--CH.sub.2 OH, --CHOH--CH.sub.2 OH, or --CHOH--CH.sub.3 or said 1 to 3 C-terminal hydroxyalkyl having 1 to 6 carbon alkyl or aryl ether replacements of one or more of the hydroxyls; or PA1 the 13-ketimine derivatives of --CO--CH.sub.3 and --CO--CH.sub.2 OH; PA1 Y is hydrogen, hydroxy, or methoxy, PA1 X is O or NH, but when Y is hydrogen or hydroxy, X must be O; PA1 at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is hydrogen and the other is hydrogen, hydroxy, or methoxyl; PA1 B is H, alkyl or optionally substituted aryl lower alkyl, said alkyl or optionally substituted aryl lower alkyl also optionally containing hydroxy, alkoxy, carbonyl, cyano or ester group substitutions; or PA1 B and R.sup.2 taken together, in order, are the methylene-oxygen bridge --CH.sub.2 --O--; and PA1 A is …
