Abstract

A photographic element having at least one layer containing a copolymer mordant having the repeating unit represented by the following general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein A represents a monomer unit (copolymer component) derived from a copolymerizable monomer having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups; B represents a monomer unit (copolymer unit) derived from a copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer represented by the following general formula (II) ##STR2## wherein R.sub.5 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; L represents an alkylene group or an arylene group; and m is 0 or 1; D represents a monomer unit (copolymer component) derived from a copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer other than the monomer units shown by A and B and the monomer unit having component ratio z; R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group or an aralkyl group, and at least two of R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 may combine to form a heterocyclic structure with a nitrogen atom; n represents an integer of from 1 to about 12; x.sup..crclbar. represents an anion; …
