Abstract
Synthetic analogs of the marine natural product manoalide include 3,7-Bis(hydroxymethyl)-4-hydroxy-11-methyl-13-(2',6',6'-trimethylcyclohexe nyl)-2,6,10-tridecatrienoic acid .gamma.-lactone, manoalide .delta.-lactone, manoalide .delta.-lactone acetate and dehydro-seco-manoalide. The method of treating mammals including humans in need of a drug having analgesic and/or anti-inflammatory activity comprising the administration of a therapeutically effective amount of a synthetic analog of manoalide.
