Abstract
From 5 to 35%, preferably 10 to 30%, by volume of hydrocarbon gases may be incorporated as a diluent into carbon dioxide-containing gas injected during secondary exploitation of oil reservoirs. The reservoir pressure is maintained at 100 to 120 atm., respectively, up to 250 atm. The preferred range is 120 to 200 atm. The hydrocarbon gases may be added to the carbon dioxide-containing gas prior to injection and/or use may be made of ambient hydrocarbon gases present in the reservoir. The optimum gas injection rate is 40-80 m.sup.3 /day/m of formation.
