Abstract
A method for the preparation of a fluorinated amine of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X represents hydrogen or fluorine, R represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, difluoromethyl or trifluoromethyl and each of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, independently, represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, which comprises reacting a carbonyl compound of the formula: EQU XCF.sub.2 COR at an elevated temperature with a nitrogenous base of the formula: ##STR2## and hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst.
