Abstract
A catalyst useful for producing substantially C.sup.2 + alkane hydrocarbons from mixtures of CO and H.sub.2 which comprises a mixture of iron carbide and ilmenite supported on titania wherein the ratio of the iron present in the supported iron carbide and ilmenite, calculated as Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, to the surface area of the titania support ranges from about 2.times.10.sup.-3 to 25.times.10.sup.-3 grams per square meter.
