Abstract

The 2-phenylpyrimidines, 2-naphthylpyrimidines and 2-heterocyclylpyrimidines of the formula I ##STR1## wherein Hal is a halogen atom and Q is a substituted phenyl or naphthyl radical or a heterocyclic ring which is unsaturated, partly saturated and/or fused to a benzene ring, are able to protect cultivated plants from the phytotoxic action of herbicides. The cultivated plants are preferably sorghum, cereals, maize, rice and soybeans, and the herbicides are chloroacetanilides or other compounds having herbicidal action.
