Abstract

A liquid composition comprising a sunscreen agent, a preservative, and a non-ionic detergent, an amphoteric detergent or a mixture thereof in an aqueous vehicle. The sunscreen agent is selected from an aminobenzoic acid, the esters of an aminobenzoic acid, homosalate, anoxate, and oxybenzone and is present in an amount of not less than about 1 percent by weight of the composition. Applying the composition to the skin periodically leaves an effective amount of the sunscreen agent on the skin even after rinsing to protect the skin against sunburn.
