Abstract
The use of an alloy of the formula EQU Ti(V.sub.l-a-b Fe.sub.a Al.sub.b).sub.x Cr.sub.y Mn.sub.z where PA1 x=greater than 1. to 2 PA1 y=0 to 0.2 PA1 x+y=at most 2 PA1 a=0 to 0.4 PA1 b=0 to 0.2 PA1 a+b=at most 0.5 PA1 (l-a-b).x=at least 1 PA1 Z=0 to (2-x-y) as a getter material. The alloy is distinguished by a low activation temperature, favorable mechanical properties and inexpensiveness.
