Abstract

An oil film damper whose one portion is supported, whose free end portion or portions define oil film formation portions and which has a Rahmen or rigid frame structure is used so that a minimum quantity of lubricating oil only sufficient to fill clearances in which oil films are formed can have a function of satisfactorily damping shaft vibrations. A jet of lubricating oil fed from the exterior of the oil film damper is directly supplied to each ball bearing so that the satisfactory lubrication of ball bearings is ensured, the overall function of the bearing device is improved and a service life thererof is increased.
