Abstract

Transparent copolyamides with very good processibility, very good mechanical properties, excellent transparency and hydrolysis stability in boiling water, and alloyability with other polyamides, are obtained through polycondensation of alkyl derivatives of dicycane and additional polyamide-forming components, together with isophthalic acid and an .omega.-aminocarboxylic acid or its lactam with more than 8 C-atoms, or salts thereof, or a stoichiometric mixture of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and an aliphatic diamine. The copolyamides of the invention are excellently suitable for the production of molded articles, thanks to their low processing viscosity.
