Abstract
A process for the carbonylation of an allenically unsaturated compound with CO in the presence of water, an alcohol and/or a carboxylic acid, which process is carried out in the presence of a catalyst formed by combining: PA0 (a) a compound of divalent palladium, PA0 (b) at least 15 mol of an organic phosphine per gram atom of divalent palladium, and PA0 (c) a protonic acid having a pK.sub.a greater than 1.5 and/or a carboxylic acid having a pK.sub.a not greater than 1.5, both measured at 18.degree. C. in aqueous solution.
