Abstract
The present invention relates to a composite material, of the type comprising a matrix in resin coke carbon and a refractory fibrous reinforcement, wherein the elementary fibers composing the fibrous reinforcement are coated before use with a layer of pyrolytic carbon the thickness of which layer can vary between 0.01 .mu.m and 1.0 .mu.m. The invention further relates to a method for preparing said material.
