Abstract

This invention is that of an improved process for preparing 1:1 copper complex disazo compounds which comprises treating a disazo compound of the following general formula (2): ##STR1## wherein: M is hydrogen or the equivalent monovalent or divalent metal and PA1 Y is the vinyl group or CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --Z wherein Z is a radical that can be eliminated by an alkaline agent with a copper donor at a temperature from about 70.degree. to about 130.degree. C. and at a pH from about 3 to about 6. The compounds of the process of the invention are used as dyestuffs.
