Abstract

The present invention is directed to polyisocyanates which have improved compatibility with polyester coreactants and improved solubility in apolar solvents, the polyisocyanates containing, based on solids, PA0 (a) about 15 to 85 wt. % of an isocyanurate group-containing polyisocyanate based on hexamethylene diisocynate and PA0 (b) about 15 to 85 wt. % of a biuret group-containing polyisocyanate based on hexamethylene diisocyanate. The present invention is additionally directed to two-component polyurethane coating compositions based on the above polyisocyanates and branched polyester polyols. Finally, the present invention is directed to a process for preparing the polyisocyanate.
