Abstract

Graft polymers of PA0 (A) a polyphenylene ether as a base polymer and PA0 (B) a half ester of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid of the general formula ##STR1## as a graft monomer, where R.sup.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.25 -alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.25 -alkylene or aryl, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each H, Br, Cl or one of the radicals R.sup.1, and Q is H or an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or an ammonium cation, with or without PA0 (C) further olefinically unsaturated monomers, and their preparation.
