Abstract

The method comprises the steps of: PA0 a. providing an optical recording element comprising an amorphous thin film of a GeTe alloy; PA0 b. preparing the thin film for writing and erasing cycles by crystallizing the film; PA0 c. writing on selected portions of the prepared film with modulated laser beam, thereby converting portions on the films to a phase-segregated amorphous state.
