Abstract
According to the present invention there are provided fungicidal compositions comprising as active ingredient in an amount of 0.01-80% by weight a new benzoic acid derivative of the general Formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 stand for hydrogen, C.sub.1-8 alkyl, C.sub.2-8 alkenyl or benzyl; PA0 R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, C.sub.1-8 alkyl or C.sub.2-8 alkenyl; PA0 R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be the same or different; and R.sub.3 may be identical with or different from R.sub.1 and/or R.sub.2. According to the present invention there is provided a process for the preparation of the compounds of the general Formula I which comprises esterifying 4-chloro-3,5-dinitro-benzoic acid with a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic alcohol at a temperature between 20.degree. C. and 120.degree. C.--preferably at 60.degree.-100.degree. C.--in the presence of a solvent as medium and in the presence of a catalyst, and aminating the ester thus obtained with ammonia or the corresponding primary or secondary amine at a temperature between 40.degree. C. and 100.degree. C.--preferably at 60.degree.-90.degree. C.--in the melt or in an inert solvent as medium, in the presence of an acid binding agent;…
