Abstract

A rotary seal comprises an elastomeric sleeve adapted to be mounted on a shaft, a pair of washers encompassing the ends of the sleeve, wear plates engaged against the anti-friction washers, and a compression device for urging the washers toward each other axially to fore-shorten the sleeve and define between the sleeve and washers a torque driving connection, said washers being formed of anti-friction polymeric material and said wear plates being formed of metal or vice versa.
