Abstract

The present invention relates to the novel compound N-[2-(S-Coenzyme A) acetyl] sym-norspermidine which electively inhibits the enzyme spermidine/spermine N.sup.1 acetyl transferase thereby aberrating the polyamine biosynthesis pathway. The present compound alone or in combination with other agents can be employed in pharmaceutically acceptable compositions and in convenient dosage forms for use in the treatment of neoplastic diseases, diseases caused by parasitic protozoans, diseases involving deranged cell growth or other related diseases.
