Abstract
An ordinarily made thin steel sheet is placed in an atmosphere bearing SiCl.sub.4, and subjecting to Si penetrating treatment at temperatures between 1100.degree. C. and 1200.degree. C. for a determined period of time. A heating rate is used which is more than 50.degree. C./sec at the temperatures of more than 1000.degree. C. in the SiCl.sub.4 atmosphere. Thereby, it is possible to manufacture thin steel sheet of high magnetic permeability without internal defects.
