Abstract

A silver halide photographic material is described comprising a support having coated thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, wherein at least one of the silver halide emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloid layer contains a nondiffusible photographically useful compound having a sulfo group and a group represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents an aliphatic group having at least 2 carbon atoms and r represents 0 or 1. The compounds represented by the general formula (I) are photographically useful compounds which impart excellent photographic properties to silver halide photographic materials, including improved dispersibility.
