Abstract
A color image processing method and system uses a color image sensor which includes a plurality of photoelectric elements arranged in the form of an array and a plurality of color-separating filters, each of which is provided for the corresponding one of the plurality of photoelectric elements. In the preferred embodiment, there are provided three different kinds (R, G and B) of color-separating filters and these three kinds of filters are arranged in a predetermined pattern in repetition. Each photoelectric element can obtain a color data from a pixel of interest opposite to the element and the color of the color data is determined by the color-separating filter provided for the element. In accordance with the present invention, outputs from at least two other photoelectric elements having another kind of color-separating filter and located on opposite sides of the photoelectric element opposite to the pixel of interest are processed in a predetermined manner to thereby obtain a second color data for the pixel of interest.
