Abstract

The process according to the invention is particularly suitable for the preparation of aliphatic spiroorthocarbonates. For the preparation of aliphatic spiroorthocarbonates of the formula ##STR1## in which dichloromethane derivatives of the formula EQU (R.sup.5 O).sub.2 CCl.sub.2 (II) are reacted with aliphatic diols of the formula EQU HO--B--OH (V) in the presence of stoichiometric amounts of H-containing bases, which contain the nitrogen as part of an aromatic system.
