Abstract

New 5-alkoxy-2,4-diaminoalkylbenzenes is disclosed having the formula (I) ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is methyl or ethyl and R.sup.2 is an alkyl radical having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, a monohydroxyalkyl radical having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms or a dihydroxyalkyl radical having from 3 to 4 carbon atoms, as well as their acid addition salts, and oxidative hair dyeing compositions containing compounds of formula (I).
