Abstract
A tape loading mechanism for use in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus including a rotary head comprises: a transmission gear assembly engaging a drive gear rotated by a loading motor; loading gears located at opposite sides of the rotary head one of which is directly connected to the transmission gear assembly whereas the other is connected same via a connection gear assembly; a pair of loading arms responsive to the loading gears to move a pair of loading blocks back and forth; and a pinch roller arm connected to one of the transmission gear assembly, loading gears and connection gear assembly to move a pinch roller back and forth.
