Abstract
An analytical element has a peroxidase-labeled ligand analog distributed within a layer comprising from 0.1 to 10.0 g/m.sup.2 of poly(vinyl-alcohol) and from 0.2 to 20.0 g/m.sup.2 of glycerol. The concentration of the glycerol must be greater than 1 times the concentration of poly(vinylalcohol) in the layer. As a result, the peroxidase retains more of its stability prior to use. Such elements can be used to determine a number of different immunologically reactive analytes, such as digoxin.
