Abstract
A vanadium catalyst composition comprising: PA1 (i) the reaction product of a vanadium compound and an electron donor, which is a liquid, organic Lewis base in which the vanadium compound is soluble; PA1 (ii) a hydrocarbyl aluminum cocatalyst; and PA1 (iii) a promoter having the following formula: EQU C.sub.3 (X).sub.a (F).sub.b (H).sub.c wherein X is chlorine, bromine, or iodine, and each X can be alike or different PA1 a=an integer from 6 to 8 PA1 b=an integer from 0 to 2 PA1 c=an integer from 0 to 2 PA1 a+b+c=8
