Abstract
A method of producing a liquid crystal display element comprising the steps of placing too substrates opposite to each other through gap structures, superposing the two substrates through a sealing agent, fixing the substrates to a fixing base, placing a transparent plastic sheet on the substrate, evacuating the space between the fixing base and the plastic sheet to produce a vacuum so as to press the substrates together under vacuum, and photo-setting the sealing agent press-bonded to the substrates. Since insertion of the substrates into a plastic bag and vacuum packing thereof are not required for pressing the substrates, slippage in the alignment of the substrates does not easily occur. In addition, since there are not steps of heat-setting and insertion into and extraction from a bag, the number of steps and the cost of materials are reduced, and the process can be easily automated.
