Abstract
An end-cap for a filter cartridge is formed by melting the thermoplastic material of a supporting cage and of a support pleated together with the filter medium against a heated die and embedding the end of the filter medium in the material while it is molten. Extra thermoplastic material may be melted in the die. If all of the components of the cartridge are thermolplastic, then they all fuse together and contribute to the end-cap.
