Abstract

A fuel composition for co-combustion with natural gas in a furnace having a radiant energy zone and a convective energy zone comprising a slurry of micronized coal in No. 2 fuel oil, the ratio of coal to fuel oil being such that the co-combustion with natural gas enhances the flame radiance of the natural gas flame in the infrared wavelength range between 1 micron to 10 microns to increase the amount of energy provided to the radiant energy zone of the furnace and reducing the energy to the convective energy zone.
