Abstract

A process for the preparation of a (.+-.)-trans-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid salt thereof of the formula ##STR1## in which R is halogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, and PA1 R.sup.1 is hydrogen or the equivalent of a metal ion, which comprises contacting a (.+-.)-trans-cyclo-propane-carboxylic ester of the formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.2 is methyl or ethyl, with a hydrolase which is of microbial origin and isolating the resulting (.+-.)-trans-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid.
