Abstract

A chlorinated ethylene-alpha olefin-nonconjugated diolefin terpolymer having a chlorine content of from about 0.5 to 14 percent by weight characterized by superior viscosity stability on storage or exposure to elevated temperatures is obtained by chlorinating an ethylene-alpha olefin-nonconjugated diolefin terpolymer wherein said nonconjugated diolefin is a bridged ring nonconjugated diolefin characterized in that it is a 5-alkenyl-2-norbornene wherein the alkenyl group is a C.sub.5 to C.sub.12 hydrocarbon group with a trisubstituted olefinic bond that is not .alpha., .beta. to said 2-norbornene ring.
