Abstract
Photographic compound (A) capable of releasing a development inhibitor group by means of a displacement reaction enables increased image acutance when the compound contains in a coupling position a coupling-off group represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein X, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, and Q are as defined in the application. Such a compound (A) is useful in a photographic silver halide material and process.
